Local painter Plam honored by magazine
August 18, 2002
Olga Plam, a Boulder artist who works exclusively with
oil paints, is brushing up against success once again. The Russian-born
painter, whose piece "Orchids" appeared on the cover of Southwest Art
magazine in December, is a finalist in the "still life" category of
the 2002 Artist's Magazine annual art competition. Her work was chosen from
more than 13,000 pieces and will be featured in the magazine's December issue.
After studying painting in Russia, Plam immigrated to the United States in
1977, where she began working as a graphic artist. She began to paint again in
the early '90s. Since then she has won numerous awards and is currently a
member of the Oil Painters of America and American Women Artists Association,
organizations concerned with excellence in representational art.
